The library holds sounds for reuse. Loading a sound puts a separate audio copy inside the project. Previewing a file lets you hear it before loading or replacing anything.
6.1Preview and load a sound
- Select the destination track, then open BROWSE.
- Choose Factory or User and tap a sample row. It plays from the start; the lower dock shows its name and waveform.
- Tap the dock's sliders icon to open Audition. Under Hear, choose Raw for the file or In track for the selected sampler and track effects.
- Close Audition and tap Load T01, or the load button bearing your track number. If the sampler already contains audio, choose Replace T01 and follow the replacement steps below.
The sample name on the sampler card changes after loading. To add a bank member instead, begin with Sample > ADD SAMPLE FROM LIBRARY; the browser then offers Add to bank.
In Audition, Tempo > Sync reveals Source tempo. Set the file's original BPM to preview it at project tempo. Volume changes only the preview level. If the preview panel disappears while typing a search, dismiss the keyboard to show it again.
6.2Put files in the library
Start in BROWSE > User, inside the folder where you want the copies.
- Tap +, then Import audio files… or Import folder….
- Select the files or folder in Files.
- When the copies appear, tap one to preview it and use Load to put it on the selected track.
Importing alone does not load the track. New folder… makes a destination inside the current library folder. Link folder from Files… adds a folder while leaving its files in their original location.
For a video, choose + > Import audio from video…, then pick from Files or Photos. Its extracted audio appears in the library for preview and loading.
A cloud file can download when you preview it. If a linked folder is unavailable, use its menu's Reconnect folder…. Remove from library on a linked folder removes the link; the original files remain. Audio dragged from Files onto a track header or the sampler is copied into the library and loaded, using Keep sound replacement behavior.
6.3Replace a sample and keep the right settings
Start with a loaded sampler and a different candidate selected in BROWSE.
- Tap Replace T01, using your target track's number.
- Choose Keep sound, Map edits or Reset.
- Read the boundary preview. Tap Replace sample to commit.
- Play the pattern and check its sample and slice targets. Undo restores the replacement if needed.
Keep sound retains trigger, voices, character, filter and amp settings, but clears the old trim, slices, loops and fit. Map edits scales source boundaries to the new sample's length. Reset loads sampler defaults. If mapped boundaries collide, Replace sample stays disabled; read the listed issue or choose another policy.
Removing a bank sample is different from replacing it. Notes may still address the removed sample. Before removing it, use REASSIGN NOTES TO in the Sample menu. After removal, use REASSIGN MISSING SAMPLE with its number, or Undo.
6.4Record a track into a sampler
Start with a playing pattern you want to capture, then stop playback and remain in pattern mode.
- Select the destination sampler and open DEVICES > Sample > Rec in.
- Choose SOURCE > TRACK, then select the track in FROM. Choose LENGTH > PATTERN and COUNT-IN > OFF.
- Read TO. Turn NEW INSTRUMENT on to create a new sampler instead of replacing its current sample.
- Tap ARM TRACK 01, or the button naming your source, then START RECORDING. Recording begins at row 0.
The fixed-length take loads automatically and returns to the Sample page. MASTER records the mix; RETURN selects a return bus. MIC / INPUT records the audio input. Check its input meter before starting and use headphones if Monitor is on. With LENGTH > FREE, press STOP, then LOAD TAKE or DISCARD. Transport REC records notes and movement; Rec in records audio.
6.5Capture a web source with Crate
System-audio recording needs an iPad running iPadOS 27.
- Open Rec in > SAMPLE FROM WEB. In Crate, choose the destination under SAVE TO and open the web source.
- Press RECORD SAMPLE, choose Entire Screen in the system picker, then play the source.
- Check for AUDIO DETECTED, then press STOP & EDIT when the passage ends. Recording stops at 119 seconds if left running.
- The take is saved in the chosen Crate folder and opens in Sample Edit. Trim it there.
If the status says WAITING FOR AUDIO, start the source and check its playback. The saved library recording remains intact when you edit the project's copy. See files and formats for audio limits.
