Use Settings to check the audio output, connect MIDI and choose recording behavior. Open it from the top-right ellipsis > SETTINGS. Settings is one scrolling page; AUDIO is below the MIDI and recording sections.
12.1Check audio output
Start with a track that already produces sound from the on-screen keys.
- Scroll to AUDIO. Check the Active output route and the connected device's volume.
- Play a note. In MIX, check whether the track and master meters respond.
- Under BUFFER, keep AUTO for automatic selection, or choose a sample count. Lower values reduce playing latency; higher values give the engine more processing time.
- Play the busy part of your song after changing the buffer. If it crackles, try a higher value and compare again.
For an audio-performance report, tap COPY AUDIO DIAGNOSTICS in this section and include the result with your support request. Input selection and monitoring are in the Sampler's REC IN controls; see recording sounds.
12.2Play from a MIDI keyboard
Connect the keyboard by USB, or use CONNECT BLUETOOTH under MIDI KEYBOARD INPUT for Bluetooth MIDI.
- Under MIDI KEYBOARD INPUT, find the source and turn its switch on.
- Tap CH and choose All channels, or the channel your keyboard sends.
- Close Settings, select a track with a working instrument and play a key. Incoming notes play the selected track.
- For step entry, enable WRITE. For live entry at the playhead, use transport REC. If you only want to audition, leave WRITE and REC off.
If no external source appears, check the connection. Tracker Pro Virtual In is available to other apps even when no external keyboard is listed.
12.3Follow or send MIDI clock
- In SETTINGS > MIDI CLOCK, tap SYNC.
- Choose the source that should supply tempo, start and stop. Choose Internal clock when Tracker Pro should use its own tempo.
- To send clock, enable SEND beside the receiving destination.
- Start the leading device and check that the receiving device follows. If it does not, verify its clock-input setting and the chosen port.
MIDI input and clock choices are saved for this iPad. They are separate from a project's instrument routing.
To play another instrument from a track, select DEVICES > CHANGE > MIDI Out. In its card, choose the destination under To, set Channel, then press Test note. The receiving device produces the audio. If the card reports Not connected, settings kept, reconnect that destination or choose another; Reconnect refreshes the outputs. Panic sends all-notes-off to MIDI outputs.
12.4Find the cause
| What happens | Check or action |
|---|---|
| A note keeps playing | Check HOLD, loops and release. Add a length or OFF. For stuck notes, scroll to SETTINGS > SAFETY > ALL NOTES OFF. |
| Keys sound but write nothing | Enable WRITE for cursor entry, or REC for live entry. Pencil controls grid taps separately. |
| Notes appear on the wrong row | Live REC takes priority over WRITE. Otherwise check the cursor and ADVANCE. |
| A track is silent | Check its sample or plug-in, Mute, Solo and fader. MIDI Out needs an external sound source. |
| Song mode changes the part | Check the row's track mute, transpose, tempo and automation. |
| A control moves back | Check automation and step commands controlling that parameter. |
| A linked library folder is missing | Use Reconnect folder… in its library menu. Loaded project audio is stored separately. |
| Export omits external gear | Record its audio first; MIDI Out is silent during export. |
12.5Version and further help
This guide covers Tracker Pro 1.1 for iPad. PIANO and phone layouts are outside this edition. Crate system-audio capture requires iPadOS 27.
SETTINGS > MAGIC KEYBOARD has Search shortcuts. The shortcut reference also covers navigation. SETTINGS > HELP > OPEN GUIDE opens the app's First Session introduction.
For a problem you can repeat, note the app and iPadOS versions, instrument, exact steps and error message. Send those details through Tracker Pro support.
