Behind the original

The Ground Theme was written around the way Mario moves. Kondo described revising an earlier tune after playing the game, matching the music to its running and jumping rhythm.

Original instruments

The NES / Famicom sound chip supplies the original pulse-wave melody and harmony, triangle bass and noise percussion.

Inside this project

Four Macro instruments use the Chiptune engine: pulse lead, pulse harmony, triangle bass and noise percussion. The melody, accompaniment and drum notes are all editable in the tracker.
