DUBSPOT / EQP1

Dubspot EQP1 · Desktop manual

Version 1.0.0. Updated 5 November 2026.

1. Start here

EQP1 is a colorful program equalizer. Use the main panel to shape low-end weight, mid-to-high presence and top-end air. Open Advanced for input/output level, harmonic color, compensated Drive, Recovery, and noise/hum texture. Advanced starts closed whenever the editor is opened.

EQP1 is an audio effect loaded inside a compatible host. This macOS package includes AUv2, VST3 and AAX Native. There is no standalone player. This release does not include a mobile edition, AAX DSP or AudioSuite processing. Windows is not included in this package.

2. Install and load

  1. Save your work and quit the host before installing or updating EQP1.
  2. Download the Dubspot installer from your account at https://www.dubspot.com/account/plugins. Check the product version and the publisher, Resonate Tech, Inc., before continuing.
  3. Choose the formats used by your host. The package targets these locations:
FormatInstallation directoryBundle
AUv2/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Dubspot EQP1.component
VST3/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Dubspot EQP1.vst3
AAX Native/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Dubspot EQP1.aaxplugin
  1. Open your host and let it complete its normal plug-in discovery. Find Dubspot EQP1 in its audio effects/equalizer list, then insert it on a mono or stereo track.
  2. Click Activate EQP1 at the upper left. Processing is bypassed until a valid trial or paid licence is imported. See the activation steps below.

Never disable operating-system security to make a rejected development bundle load. Contact Dubspot with the exact warning if the released installer is rejected. Do not clear all of a host's plug-in caches as an initial troubleshooting step.

Requirements: the installer accepts macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Your audio host must support the selected format and your macOS version. Check the current product requirements at https://www.dubspot.com/eqp1 before updating an established studio system.

3. Licence, trial and retailer purchases

EQP1 uses a perpetual licence for three computers, with 14 days of fully functional trial use and offline processing after activation. One computer activation covers the included desktop formats on that computer. The customer's audio is processed locally.

Use the same Dubspot account you use for courses. EQP1 does not require a second account or an iLok customer licence.

Activate this computer

  1. Click Activate EQP1 (or Licence once activated), then Activate / start trial. Your browser opens the configured Dubspot licence portal for this computer.
  2. Sign in with your Dubspot account. Use your existing course account if you have one; otherwise create an account using the email address you want associated with your purchase.
  3. A direct purchase appears in the account after verified payment fulfilment. For a retailer purchase, enter its redemption code and click Redeem code. To evaluate EQP1, choose Start 14-day trial. The trial clock starts at this step, not when you later import the file.
  4. Name your computer and choose Activate and download license. Starting a trial also downloads its computer licence. Return to EQP1, click Import licence file, and select the downloaded .dubspotlicense file.
  5. The panel confirms activation. Refresh licence re-reads the local file; it does not require an online check. A valid paid file has no expiry.

Activate an offline computer

  1. In EQP1 on the studio computer, click Copy offline request. Transfer that request text to a connected device, for example in a text file on removable storage.
  2. Sign in to the Dubspot portal on the connected device. Expand Activate an offline computer, select the licence, paste the request and give the computer a name.
  3. Choose Download offline license (or Start trial for offline computer). Transfer the downloaded file back to the studio computer and use Import licence file.

The account allows up to three active computer issuances per licence. Use Deactivate in the account to free a slot, and remove the old computer's licence file before continuing on a replacement. On macOS the imported file is stored at ~/Library/Application Support/Dubspot/Licenses/EQP1.dubspotlicense. Keep a backup when changing computers. A perpetual offline licence cannot be disabled remotely. Account deactivation, refund or revocation stops new issuance; it cannot silently erase an already downloaded offline file. If the old computer is lost or inaccessible, contact admin@dubspot.com with the order information.

Trial end and session continuity: the 14-day trial expiry is fixed when started and is not restarted by deactivating a computer. An instance already running with a valid licence keeps processing if the trial expires during that session. A newly created instance checks validity and passes the latency-aligned dry signal until a valid licence is imported. There are no timed noise bursts or interruptions inside an already licensed running instance. Keep the computer clock accurate.

Keep your receipt and access to the purchase email address. Never send your password or full licence file in a public forum. A retailer redemption code and a permanent computer licence are different things. Direct purchases have a 14-day refund policy. For retailer purchases, contact the retailer. See EULA.txt for the complete terms and contact Dubspot to arrange a licence ownership transfer.

4. Main panel

ControlWhat it does
Low FrequencySelects 20, 30, 60 or 100 Hz for the low-frequency controls.
Low BoostAdds a broad low-frequency lift.
Low AttenAttenuates low frequencies with a different shape. Use it with Boost to sculpt the balance around the lift.
High FrequencySelects 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 or 16 kHz for high boost.
High BoostAdds a peak whose width also depends on Bandwidth.
BandwidthMoves the high boost from sharp toward broad. Its interaction with Boost is part of the response.
High AttenReduces the top end independently of high boost.
Atten SelSelects the high attenuation curve at 5, 10 or 20 kHz.
EQ InSwitches the EQ curves in/out, keeping the stored positions. Color, Drive, Recovery and Noise remain active.
PowerBypasses all processing through a latency-aligned dry path. It follows the host bypass parameter.

The 0–10 scales are control positions, not dB values. Combining controls changes the curve; identical Boost and Atten positions do not cancel each other.

The input and output meters display sample peaks in dBFS. EQP1 is not a limiter. EQ boosts and color can raise peaks; use Out to leave headroom in the next processor.

5. Advanced

The groups follow In → Color → Drive → Recovery → Noise → Out for easy editing. Their screen order is not a circuit-routing diagram.

Group/controlRangeHow to use it
In · Level−18 to +18 dBAdjust level entering the processing. This affects how strongly the color stage is driven.
Color · Amount0–10Blend in the harmonic character. Zero selects the baseline EQ path; disable Noise as well for silent idle output.
Color · Bass0–10Emphasize bass entering the nonlinear stage. Listen for changing low-end density as you raise it.
Color · Asymmetry0–1Change the even/odd harmonic balance.
Drive0–24 dBIncrease level into the color stage, with inverse gain compensation afterwards. This does not guarantee equal perceived loudness.
Recovery · Depth0–10Set the strength of the creative history-dependent response.
Recovery · Time5–500 msSet how quickly that response recovers.
Noise · Off/OnSwitchEnable or disable both noise and hum.
Noise · Noise−120 to −60 dBFSSet the generated noise level.
Noise · Hum−120 to −60 dBFSSet the generated mains-hum level.
Noise · Mains50 / 60 HzChoose the hum's fundamental frequency.
Out · Level−18 to +18 dBAdjust final level and leave output headroom.

Noise and hum can remain audible during silence when enabled. Noise Off disables both. They are separate from the Color amount.

Compensated Drive preserves small-signal gain rather than automatically matching perceived loudness. At extreme Drive with partial Color, the cleaner part of the blend can dominate; raise Color as well if you want a stronger effect. Compare changes at similar output levels.

Reset restores the Advanced gain/color/recovery/noise defaults together. It leaves the main EQ controls and processing quality unchanged. Save a host preset first if you need to recall an experiment. The desktop editor does not currently provide a dedicated Undo button.

6. Oversampling

The Oversampling switch shows the actual factors available at the session rate. 1x runs without resampling filters or added latency and uses the least CPU. Higher factors reduce aliasing when Color and Drive are strong, at the cost of CPU and latency. All settings use the same coloration model.

Session rateNativeLower oversamplingHigher oversampling
44.1 / 48 kHz1×8×16×
88.2 / 96 kHz1×4×8×
176.4 / 192 kHz1×2×4×

Quality changes apply when the host restarts processing or reloads the plug-in. The editor shows a pending change until then. Stopping transport alone may leave processing resources allocated. Save the session before reloading a plug-in. EQP1 reports its processing latency to the host for delay compensation.

7. Editing and presets

Desktop saved states retain their voicing revision. Choosing a factory program selects the current voicing. The desktop state document is separate from the native AUv3 state; it does not automatically migrate earlier native sessions.

8. Quick starting points

Bass weight: begin with Low & Warm. Set Low Frequency for the source, balance Boost with Atten, then match the output level before judging the change.

Open top end: begin with Open Air. Move Bandwidth toward broad for a wider lift. Use high attenuation to settle the upper edge without undoing the whole boost.

Character without EQ: disengage EQ In, open Advanced, and adjust Color/Drive. Use Power for a comparison against the complete bypassed path.

These are musical suggestions, not fixed presets for every source. Leave output headroom and listen in the mix.

9. Troubleshooting

I still hear processing with EQ In off. This switch only removes the EQ curves. Use Power/host bypass to compare all processing.

I hear hiss or hum when playback stops. Set Noise Off, or reduce the independent Noise/Hum levels.

An oversampling change has not taken effect. The editor may show a pending state until the host prepares processing again. Save and reload if needed.

The output is clipping. Lower Out or the incoming level. EQP1 does not catch peaks like a limiter.

The plug-in is missing. Confirm the selected format matches your host and the installer completed. Restart the host and use its documented targeted scan if necessary. Do not install a native AUv3 app as a workaround for the desktop AUv2 bundle.

AAX will not load. Install the AAX format from the Dubspot installer and check that your Pro Tools version supports your operating system. Contact Dubspot with the exact error if it is rejected.

Activation fails. Save the exact error message, product version and purchase source. Contact Dubspot privately; do not post secrets.

10. Updates, removal and support

Save sessions before updating and keep the last working installer. Test an update on a copy of an important session. Newer saved-state revisions are not guaranteed to reopen correctly in older versions.

To remove EQP1, quit the host and move only the exact Dubspot EQP1 bundles listed in section 2 to the Trash. Administrator permission may be required. You can also remove /Library/Application Support/Dubspot/EQP1/Documentation if you no longer need this guide. Keep sessions, presets and licence records unless you separately intend to remove them. Removal of a plug-in bundle is not the same as deactivating a computer.

For support, email admin@dubspot.com with EQP1 version, OS version/CPU, host/version, format, sample rate, buffer size, steps to reproduce and the exact error. For account questions add the retailer/order ID privately. Share a minimal session or audio example only if you have permission to share its contents.
