As a creative hub for electronic music located in the heart of New York City, we've received a lot of interest from students abroad to come take classes at DubSpot. If you'd like to come to DubSpot and you live outside of the U.S, this page will answer some questions you may have. VisaIf you plan to come to the U.S. temporarily to take classes at DubSpot, please note we are not able to offer educational visas (M-1 or F-1) as of yet, but you can come on a nonimmigrant Visitor Visa (B-2 - temporary visitor for pleasure), and we have courses you can complete within that timeframe. Certain countries are part of the Visa Waiver Program where you don't need a visa to visit the USA, to see if your country is one of them, click here. Nonimmigrant visas are for international travelers, (citizens of other countries), coming to the U.S. temporarily. This visa allows you to travel to a U.S. port-of-entry (airport, for example) and request permission of the Department of Homeland Security immigration inspector to enter the U.S. A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States. Based on your specific circumstance, you may qualify for another type of visa. To learn all about your US visa requirements, go to this web site. On the right bar of that page, you can locate your local US consulate or embassy, which will be able to assist you in the process. CoursesWe have many courses designed for students here on a short stay. Our most popular course the DJ/Producer Package can be completed in three months. Also our Electronic Music Production Course runs for three months and meets twice a week. We also offer DJ Courses designed to fit the needs of foreign visitors as well. Our Beginner Package, can be completed in under two months, and our Extensive DJ Package can be completed in 3 months. Please note, there are also courses that run for a month or as long as six months, so basically we have a course for however long your stay is for.
IMPORTANT: We will not be able to issue a letter to confirm that you have been accepted to a course until you have paid your course fees. The best way to pay is online via a credit card. If you'd like to pay with an international wire, please email us at info@dubspot.com for directions. If for any reason your VISA application is turned down, you will not get a refund: it is your responsibility to ensure that your application is done correctly and in time. HousingIf you need to find a place to stay in NYC, a good place to look for cheap apartments is on http://newyork.craigslist.org/. In the "Housing" section look in either the "rooms / shares" or "sublets / temporary" depending on whether you would share a place or you'd prefer your own. Another more affordable alternative is to stay at a hostel in NYC. A very affordable one is located on the Upper West Side, check this site for details -- http://www.hinewyork.org/index.shtml. For more info on other hostels, check here. There are also plenty of hotels in and around NYC where you can stay, two places you can find hotel rooms are at priceline.com, kayak.com. For details on how to get to and from DubSpot from those locations, see below.
