DubSpot's DJ Courses were designed to accommodate all skill levels - from beginner to advanced. Our students learn how to:

  • Use standard Technics turntables and the latest in digital DJ technology including the CDJ-1000's and Scratch Live.
  • Blend two songs so they sound as one by developing a keen sense of rhythm and timing.
  • Execute clean mixes and develop unique sound textures.
  • Mix all styles of music - House, Hip-Hop, Dub, Soul, Funk, Downtempo, Bossa, Electro, Disco, Rock, Afro, Dancehall, Jazz, Latin, Techno or whatever else you can imagine.

Our courses are divided into 4 different "Tracks", each "Track" lasting 4 weeks and can be taken individually or as part of the DJ Extensive or DJ Beginner Package.

Track 01 • Rookie Sessions • $ 395 • Signup>

DJ Neil Armstrong walks a student through a scratching drill.You will learn the basic mechanics of mixing & scratching and at the same time be introduced to the equipment used in a standard DJ setup as well as Serato Scratch Live. By the end of the four weeks you will have a basic working knowledge of music theory. Your final assignment - to perform your 1st live mix for your class.

Track 02 • Fun-damentals • $ 395 • Signup>

DJ Reborn helps a student.Emphasis on the "workflow of the DJ" - getting you prepared in how it actually feels to DJ out by tapping into your inner sense of rhythm & timing. We help you hone your fundamental mixing skills, and introduce more Serato techniques - including Relative mode, setting up cue points, crate creation, and importing of your own songs. Final Assignment - Perform a 3 song mix.

Track 03 • Finishing Touches • $ 395
(prereq Track 01-02, or equivalent experience) Signup>

Student working at a workstation on his mix.Intended for DJ's looking to refine their skills. Here we help you prepare your set by using group practice techniques, introducing the aspects of improvisation and time constraints, proper volume control, and EQing, and creating smooth transitions. We also essentially emulate the real DJ experience. Final Assignment - Create a 15 minute mix to be recorded in Track 04.

Track 04 • Classroom to Main Room • $ 395

DJ Neil Armstrong demos some advanced mixing for a class.Intro to other technologies such as the industry standard CDJ-1000's and Ableton Live. Also learn how to read a room and understand crowd psychology - getting the party started. Advanced mixing tips & tricks, adding effects, and cross-genre mixing are also emphasized. Final assignment - record your own mixed CD that may be used as a demo.
