w/ Thavius Beck (Big Dada, Mush Recordings) - Thavius is an established producer and composer, as well as one of L.A's only Ableton certified trainers. His workshop will focus on ground-up beat programming, covering clip editing, manipulation, grooves and more.

w/ Jon Margulies (Heatercore, Hobotech) - DJ, producer, teacher and author Jon Margulies will draw on his abundant knowledge of Live (he authored the Live 7 & 8 Power! books) to detail various tuning strategies in Ableton. Centered around some powerful automation techniques, his insight will help clean up the sound-stage and harmonize a producer's compositions.

Irwin (IrwinMusic.com) - Irwin of Irwin's Conspiracy will show some great techniques for working with and designing sounds. See how it's often best to create your own rather than mining through endless libraries, albums, or presets. Irwin is hired throughout the industry for his unique signature style in sound and performance, and has highly customized music currently running on HBO, Fuel Network, national and regional TV spots, action sports/snowboard movies, and on board some of the latest electric vehicles.

w/ Daniel Wyatt (Sonica Media, Atlantic) - Multi-platinum sound engineer Daniel Wyatt will cover the techniques that make ordinary mixes sound extraordinary. That differentiate between what is just a cool composition and a commercially ready master: a world-class sounding track with a clean-soundstage, precise EQing, and razor sharp highs, mids and lows.

w/ Barry Cole (Spot Music, Blue Mountain Publishing) - As the music supervisor for over 60 films and manager of a publishing catalog with over 15,000 songs from Bob Marley to Justice, Barry knows the biz inside and out. This workshop will discuss a variety 21st Century industry issues, including royalties, licensing, digital distribution and more.

w/ Scientist and more tbd - Moderated by Barry Cole, the day will close with a panel discussion and open-ended conversation with a select group of legendary artists and producers, including Scientist. Talking about a variety of production issues, they will open the room to questions and also branch out from strictly technical topics to discuss how their lives and careers were shaped by the music world around them.

w/ DJ Kiva (Adios Babylon, Dubspot) - Dubspot instructor DJ Kiva will give a step-by-step examination of the process for creating and customizing Ableton sets for a DJ or Live P.A. style performance. Going from a blank template to a fully controllable, ready for the stage setup.

w/ Steve Nalepa (1320 Records, Chapman University Conservatory of Music) - There are a variety of ways to utilize Ableton for live performance. This workshop will provide an explanation and overview of the various strategies, while delivering a plethora of tips and tricks culled from the instructor's many years of working together with and performing alongside the most innovative performers in the world. Learn how artists like Nosaj Thing, Adam Freeland, Flying Lotus, Bassnectar and The Glitch Mob set up their live documents.

w/ Daedelus (Ninja Tune) and Peter Kirn (Create Digital Music) - For those of you who have an idea of how Daedelus makes music, whether its on the stage or in the studio, you know that his cutting-edge sound is forged, appropriately, with cutting-edge tools. A max guy, a custom controller guy, he is pretty far out there. As a musician, he is widely respected for his unique strategies for performing and producing, and thats what him and Peter will discuss.
Peter is a composer, digital musician, and live visualist. He is founder and editor of createdigitalmusic.com and createdigitalmotion.com, leading communities and online magazines for electronic expression, as well as a writer for outlets including Keyboard, Make, Macworld, Computer Music, and Wax Poetics.
He's a frequent speaker on creativity and technology, and has been featured recently at South by Southwest Interactive, OFFF Portugal, the DEAF Festival in Dublin, and others. He has contributed live music and visuals from the club scene to work with modern dance and appearances at MGFest Chicago and Cambridge and Boston CyberArts.
